Jake Voight

 
 

Jake Voight is an educator, percussionist, and ethnomusicologist whose work spans a wide range of global musical traditions. He earned his BM in Music Technology from Oakland University and is now based in Morgantown, West Virginia, where he studies at West Virginia University. There, he is completing graduate work in percussion performance, musicology, and music business and industry while serving as a World Music Graduate Assistant.

Jake’s studies include intensive training in Ghana, where he learned drum, xylophone, and dance traditions from master artists of the Dagara, Dagomba, Ga, and Ewe communities.

As an educator, Jake has coached concert, world, and marching percussion programs across the United States, with a focus on contemporary and global percussion practices. His performance experience includes ensemble work, national outreach, and the premiere of new music for percussion.
